It was there in the dark
Hunting…
Lurking…
Haunting.
It was always there,
Hiding in the shadows,
Waiting for its chance
To drag you down…
Down, to the gallows.
Escape was a delusion,
Merely a dream
Where you could make yourself think
The shadows weren’t what they seem.
But the shadows are worse
Than what they appear
They already know
Exactly
What you fear
And they feed on the fear that
You wish you could hide,
But all hope is lost-
You can’t cast them aside
The shadows consume
All thoughts of light.
They haunt and they feed,
‘Til day turns to night
Nothing escapes
Their unending wrath
The shadows consume…
And you’re in their path
