Two years ago, life got a little crazy for everyone. I was settling into a new house with my new husband and puppy when the pandemic happened, and life quickly ran away from me. I was so busy that I let my blog go because at the time, it wasn’t a priority. It wasn’t a priority for a long time.
Then I remembered my dreams, and I decided to go back to school.
A New Path
Fast-forward to today, and I’m one year away from earning my Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing. I earned a place in the Sigma Tau Delta Honor Society and my thesis, my first real attempt at a novel, is slowly coming to life. That childhood dream of being a published author someday no longer seems impossible.
Three years ago, I traded in my copywriter pen for a career building SEO strategies. I loved it and learned so much, even if I have never taken the time to incorporate my SEO knowledge into this website. This site was originally intended to be for myself as the main audience, so why would I take that time? (Spoiler alert – I’ll go back and improve old blogs for that eventually!)
Back to Writing
As much as I enjoy SEO strategy, returning to school has shown me how much I miss being a copywriter. It was my favorite job! Yes, I was sad when I had to choose between my copywriting job and living with my husband, but that’s part of life when you’re a military spouse.
Returning to this blog is step one of embracing myself as a writer. Check out my portfolio for professional examples, or browse through the articles here.
