Today’s word of the day is “time.”
Time is this ever-present force in our lives that most people neglect to think about properly. For example, you probably think about time in terms of what time you need to wake up in the morning or how long you have to eat lunch, but time is so much more than that.
Your Time is Limited
Time will continue to tick on by long after you have left this world, and your life only encompasses a moment in the grand scheme of things.
Even if the people around you make you feel otherwise, your life is your own. Your decisions are your own. You should follow your dreams and live the life you want even if your friends or family think you should do something else.
I have read stories where people based major life decisions on their parents’ desires and not their own. While this may produce a financially fulfilling life, it usually leaves people feeling unfulfilled. There is anxiety and depression born of a need to please others with no regard for their own desires. This is unacceptable.
Life is too short not to enjoy it and be grateful for what you have. Don’t let someone living their own life make all the decisions in yours.
Don’t Waste Time
I find it incredibly sad how much time people waste on things that don’t matter—things that damage relationships or fail to spark joy in anyone.
If you spend months angry about something a family member did that sunny Thursday in June, you’re wasting time. You’re wasting opportunities for new memories because you are too busy stewing in anger instead of enjoying life. Depending on how everyone involved reacted, you may have even ruined a relationship.
Treasure Your Time
You never know when your last day on Earth will be. You might live to be 100, or you could be gone tomorrow. Treasure the time you have with your loved ones. Live your life for yourself – a life that makes you happy.
